Slay the Spire is a deck-building roguelike video game played by Markiplier.
Game information[]
The objective of Slay the Spire is to survive the ascent through all fifty floors of the titular spire while possibly obtaining cards to improve their combat deck as well as obtaining bonus-granting relics. Each individual run or play-through the game is split into three acts, with a boss character to overcome at the end of each act.
Each act contains a number of floors, and each floor contains a randomly-chosen encounter linked by randomly generated paths. Possible random encounters include fighting with monsters, fighting against elite monsters, stopping at campfires to heal or upgrade individual cards, trading with shopkeepers to buy cards and potions as well as to remove cards from the deck, opening chests with random loot, and as well as going through other miscellaneous events.
As a roguelike game, Slay the Spire stores very little character progression between games — players can unlock additional cards and relics for each of the three characters by scoring a set number of points to unlock tiers of unlockables that then become obtainable items during future runs.
