Summary[]
While docking shuttle Marmota aboard the Invincible II spacecraft, the pilot (Holt Boggs) lowers the blast shields and attempts a blind landing before crashing onto the ship's landing dock. As the Captain departs the shuttle, they are greeted by Mark (Mark Fischbach), the ship's head engineer who gives them a tour of the vessel. Mark guides the Captain to a room containing the warp core, a device that opens wormholes for faster-than-light interstellar travel and was somehow involved in the destruction of Invincible I before being repurposed for their current spacecraft. Mark states that they do not fully understand the core's capabilities, but reassures the Captain that it passed all safety tests and that they can still utilize it. As a fail-safe feature, Mark wired the passage connecting the core's chamber to the rest of the ship with explosives in an attempt to hack off the device if it were to malfunction for the second time. The two then move on to the control room for the ship's main reactor. While there, Mark boasts about his engineering prowess as the control panel short circuits and the core begins to overheat in the background, before Burt (Bob Muyskens) breaks the Captain's focus and lowers the blast shields. Burt introduces himself and resumes with maintenance, as the Captain and Mark quickly pass through the cryo-freeze chamber containing hundred-thousand space colonialists where they run into CC who gets into a short squabble with Mark.
Mark does a few final safety checks and escorts the Captain to the ship's main control room where they make a toast together with the rest of the crew. Immediately after, the ship's artificial intelligence (AI) engages the warp core and gives the crew a thirty second countdown to get inside their cryo-pods as it prepares the ship to enter the wormhole. As they climb into their cryo-pods, Mark attempts to give the Captain one final advice, but is cut off by the pod sealing itself shut. However, before they can enter a state of suspended animation, the ship's AI malfunctions and offers a software update as it flies the wormhole. The Captain remains fully awake as they go through the wormhole where they hear several faint voices overlapping each other. As the ship comes to a stop, the glitchy AI informs the Captain that the system's software has been updated, but notes that the ship's current status is catastrophic. In an attempt to stabilize Invincible II, the AI revives Mark for assistance, but the cryo-pod ends up ejecting him against the control room's front window which causes it to shatter from the impact as Mark is sucked out into outer space. After which, the AI seals off the exposed bulkhead. As the fire erupts on the bridge, the AI informs the Captain that all fail-safes are offline, including the crew's life support. The Captain is then given a choice to either put out the fire or fix the ship's life support.
Life is Yours to Choose[]
At the end of "Try Not to Crash Simulator"—A Let's Play of Drive Time Radio video game in which the player can give answers on a radio quiz show in an attempt to win a prize—Mark issues a quiz to his audience titled Life is Yours to Choose where he would present three hypothetical scenarios themed around seafaring captains and ask the viewers to answer all three of his questions correctly to receive a special reward. Similarly to In Space with Markiplier, the viewer can interact with the video's end cards to navigate through all possible choices. Answering incorrectly would lead the viewer to a death scene and force them to start over. If the first two scenarios are correctly answered, Mark will present the third and final question to the viewer, which references the opening of In Space with Markiplier, with the final end card leading to "In Space with Markiplier: Part 1."
