Doki Doki Literature Club! is a visual novel played by Markiplier, created by Dan Salvato and developed by his namesake group, Team Salvato. Following its success, the developers released an expanded version of the game titled Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!. Unlike the original, Plus! is a premium game.

Plot[]
The protagonist is invited by his cheerful childhood friend Sayori, to join their high school's literature club as a remedy for his insular nature. The lead character reluctantly agrees to her proposal and promptly encounters the other members of the club: the assertive Natsuki, the diffident Yuri, and the bubbly, popular club president Monika. After each day passes in the literature club the protagonist is prompted to compose a poem which he will then be able to share with the rest of the club members the following day.
Gameplay[]
The general gameplay of Doki Doki Literature Club! is designed to lure players into a sense of comfort before subverting their expectations. The first few hours of Act 1 go normally like any other dating simulator before everything changes in Act 2, turning into a game of the psychological horror genre with heavy use of breaking the fourth wall. The game itself contains suicide, self-harm, mentions of depression, and graphic images of death.
