Game information[]

Plot[]

Amnesia: Rebirth is a first person survival horror game and the third installment of the Amnesia series. Set in the year 1937, the game takes place almost 100 years after Amnesia: The Dark Descent and follows Anastasie "Tasi" Trianon, a French archeologist who was on an expedition to French Sudan in Colonial Africa when her plan crash landed in the deserts of Algeria. She wakes up to find that she survived, but all of her companions are missing. As she searches for her companions, she comes across an ancient cave haunted by darkness and supernatural creatures which stalk her as she slowly uncovers her lost memories.

Gameplay[]

Similarly to its predecessors, Rebirth features basic interactions with objects around the world, physics-based puzzles and an inventory. Lighting is scarce and the player is required to manage their light source, whether it be a lantern or a match, less they were to lose it and succumb to madness from either being shrouded in darkness or staring at a horrid sight for too long. Whenever she feels fetal movement, Tasi can check on her pregnancy to reduce her fear level. Combat is not possible, requiring the player to either hide or run away. In addition, Rebirth comes with a Traveler's Locket, a device used by Tasi to traverse the reality between hers and the other, alien-like world, where time seemingly stands still. If the player were to die to an enemy, the game would respawn them slightly ahead of their confrontation, skipping the monster encounter, entirely.
